Introducing, the A-Field Chronicle
29 May 2008
After much, some, very little thought over the matter, I have decided to create yet another blog. Welcome to The Akashic Field Chronicle (marching band music plays here…). Tadaaa!
The Rationale
It just seemed that my old blog (Piece of Pi) has been on an indefinite hiatus for the longest time now. Every couple of months or so, I’d muster enough will power or have an over-supply of slack time to put in a post or two. Sure enough though, each feeble attempt is followed by laziness and losing of interest with yet another post ending up as just a waste of time.
It’s not that I don’t have anything to write anymore, nor is it for lack of time. Honestly, I’ve never had more spare time in my entire life (just another reason why “Graduate School” is so much better than a desk job).
I guess it’s just that my old blog doesn’t cut it anymore. I’m very different from that guy that started Piece of Pi. New life, new priorities, new goals, new experiences. It’s probably fitting therefore, to also have a new blog.
The Concept
The Akashic Field (A-field for short), is something I borrowed from the Sci-Fi TV show “Eureka!”. I’m not sure if a lot of people watch it or if they think its any good. If you haven’t seen it yet, then please do. It’s great.
The A-field is a term used to describe a compendium of all knowledge, everything that was, everything that is and everything that will be. It comes from the Sanskrit word Akasha, meaning “space”). One way to look at it is a sort of metaphysical record or library of all thought and of all learning. Whew! Some people believe that one could tap into this unlimited source of knowledge and thus know everything. (Akashic Records)
Personally, I’m more of a Christian type guy and I’m not likely to convert to Hinduism any time soon. Still, I do love the idea that all knowledge exists somewhere ready for the tapping. Our job then, is to slowly discover what has been there all along, through science and also through our spirituality.
The Promise
Simply put, this blog is about sharing knowledge. Each of us taps into the Akashic Field in our own little ways. Through our experiences and through our reasoning. It is my belief that through the sharing of these experiences and ideas we inch our way ever closer to uncovering the secrets of the A-field. This Chronicle is my contribution to that pursuit.
The Platform
Another more practical reason for this new blog is to give WordPress a try. I’ve been using Blogger for my old blog and after some digging around, I’ve discovered that WordPress is a little more attuned to my tastes.
Besides being completely opensource, it’s ultra-flexible and customizable, without a lot of the restrictions I find in Blogger. Plus, it can be installed on your very own webhost (like this site).
So far, I have not been disappointed with my choice. I think I’ll be sticking with WordPress for now.
The End
Ooooh! I might have sounded a bit too deep and uber-serious. Don’t worry, it’s still the same old personal experiences blog I had before. I just thought it would be a great idea to actually have a concept to work with this time around.
Have fun reading!
